Learning about the chakras...

Chakras are the energy centers of our body. The word originates from Sanskrit and it literally means “wheel of light” by association with its function as a vortex of spinning energy interacting with various physiological and neurological systems in the body. When energy is blocked in any of these seven areas, it can lead to emotional or physical illness. Each chakra is related to a specific area of the body and although there are many chakras, the most known are the following seven: 
Muladhara (Root Chakra) Color: Red Mantra: Lam The Muladhara governs your family ties and feelings of survival, belonging, and guardedness. Your earliest memories are stored here, including whether or not your basic needs were met. When it is blocked or out of balance, you can become needy, have low self-esteem, or have self-destructive behaviors. When Muladhara is in balance, you feel strong and confident.
